About Us

Our History & Who We Are Now

In 1889, Louis Klein and his family purchased this building and named it Klein's Drug Store. The rear of the building served as the Bethalto Post Office for many years. The upstairs became Klein's Hall, which held many local organizations and clubs. Klein's Hall was also the entertainment hub of the area, where many theatrical and musical plays took place. Klein's Drug Store was a well known candy shop in the local area. We enjoy listening to our customers explain to us their vivid memory as a child visiting Klein's for some candy and a fresh soda pop. Based on the stories we hear from our local customers, Bob Klein (who owned the business for many years) was an extremely kind man who loved the community in which he contributed to in many ways. It is very apparent Bob Klein touched the lives of many people and has not been forgotten. We find it important to keep his memory alive in our establishment, as he was the sole creator of all the happy memories that took place in "the old Klein's building".
